FAQ
How many lessons are needed for my child? How long should each recommended class be?
- We recommend every student to attend at minimum one class per week, each class being 1.5 hours. Due to the fact that Leading Edge caters to students from different starting points, it is best that our tutors get more time to assess and customise necessary learning content based on their personal learning needs. Exceptions will be given based on subjective assessment of the tutor. If exam dates are approaching, more frequent lessons may be beneficial.
- For students in their diploma years: based on our experience, a small group of 2-3 students per class is strongly encouraged as friendly competition has translated well into academic scores.
What types of tutoring services does Leading Edge provide?
- Leading Edge provides a wide range of classes for students to attend based on their personal needs or preferences. Class formats typically include private 1-on-1 sessions, group classes of 2-3 students. In addition, during holidays or in weeks leading up to exams, our tutors can provide subject revision classes to catch up on harder topics or free mock papers to replicate the final exam setting. Mock papers will be graded, analysed, and tutors will discuss with students on potential areas for improvement. For lesson fees, please refer to the ‘Tutors’ section.
Under what weather conditions will classes be rescheduled/cancelled?
- Yellow/Red rain: If there are no safety concerns, classes will run as scheduled. However, Leading Edge will assess the situation accordingly and notify parents/students about any last minute changes.
- Black rain: Classes will be cancelled if the signal is in effect for the full day. However, classes will resume if the signal is removed 3 hours prior to the start of the class.

What happens if my child is unable to attend a lesson?
- If a student wishes to reschedule or cancel a lesson for any reason, please notify Benny or your respective tutor at least 48 hours prior to scheduled lesson time. Otherwise, Leading Edge reserves the right to charge the lesson as planned.
Will there be extra time provided during class if my child is late?
- We strongly advise students to be punctual and make an effort to arrive on time, as schedules during the academic year are quite tight and lack flexibility. In most cases, we will not provide extra time if the student is late, while payment will be charged as usual.
Do teaching materials and syllabuses from our lessons correspond with the curriculum that my child follows in school?
- Students and parents can easily request that our tutors prepare materials according to the syllabus they would like to follow. It is important that students and parents communicate clearly and in advance with our tutors about the curriculum they intend to cover. If teachers are not informed which syllabus or materials to use, they will prepare lessons to strengthen core content using their own materials. Leading Edge offers a strong database of textbooks and free past paper questions sorted by topic and by year for students to prepare for official exams.
How can I pay for lessons?
- Invoices for all lessons are typically sent to parents at the end of each month, adjusted for any sudden changes students may had over the past 30 days. Parents may choose to use the following methods of payment depending on their preference:
- Bank transfer
- FPS
- PayMe
- In person (cheque, cash with name attached to payment)
How do I add more lessons in preparation for assessments/exams?
- Tutors will try their best to adjust their schedules to accommodate more lessons for exam preparation. It is highly recommended to notify Benny as early as possible so he can best support flexibilities around additional lesson times.
During trial lessons, what should students/parents prepare in advance?
- Leading Edge offers a free trial meeting/lesson for new students to assess their understanding of math and to understand their current progress in the school curriculum. It would be preferred if students bring in work/exams from school as reference to support the assessment by the tutor.
